1000 Pound Catches of Halibut
 

Our Halibut charters travel out into the Gulf of Alaska 100+ days per year to provide our customers with the best opportunity for outstanding sport fishing.  The reason we go out into the open water is to find areas that have concentrations of decent sized fish, not just the occasional big one. Here are some of the results.

7/3/2000 A great day fishing out in the Gulf.  Kept 13 Halibut from 100#/60" to 175#/74". 
Estimated weight 1,800 pounds of halibut. 
Also, released dozens of smaller halibut from 40# to 90# that day.

262.7#/84" halibut caught by John Swindell of Indego California 8/29/2006
Other halibut include 215#/75", 200#/74", 2 x 63"/120#, 60"/100#, and 3 60-80#.

214.5#/80" halibut caught by Dallas Ferguson of North Pole 8/13/2006

7/31/02 Joe Green, John Glover, Shawn Green,+ 3 others - 207.6#/78", 202.0#/76", 170#/73", 140#/67", 110#/62", 105#/61", +5 other "smaller" halibut,
10 Red Snapper, 1 Black Sea Bass, and 1 Ling Cod.  Approximately 1,200# of haul

230# Halibut 6/19/04 

A good limit of halibut including Alex Verona's 203#/76" Halibut (front), 195#, 185# and some nice lingcod and rockfish.

July 16,2009 A good days fishing in the Gulf.

6/13/2001 Tim Washeleski, Lorraine , Roy Wiggins, Danny Winchester, BillWellburn.  150#/69", 140#/67", 127#/67", 127#/65", 101#'61", 5 other halibut 70# to 100#, plus 10 red snapper and 1 copper rockfish.  Released 15 Ling Cod to 65# and many halibut were also released.  Approximately 1,100 pounds of halibut and 150 pounds of rockfish kept.  This was a great day of fishing.

7/3/2001 Tim Washelski, Joey Merrick, Ron , Mike Remington.  152#, 150#, 141#, 116#,  plus 8 other halibut from 50# to 110#, 6 Ling cod to 50#, and 2 red snapper.  Approximate weight of fish was 1,400 pounds.  We also lost a very large halibut that day that was on for approximately 30 minutes.  The fish that got away wrapped around the anchor line.   Our fish in the picture are on a blue tarp because the harbormaster said that he does not want any fish slime on the docks.

7/1/2001 Larry Sandvik, Angella & Harry Ketzler, Shane Grubaugh, Scott Bigdolt, and Craig Woods.
        
Approximately 1,100 pounds of halibut kept.  Shane Grubaugh caught the 224# halibut.   The seas were building into 8 to 10 foot waves that were breaking over the stern. Only very experienced crews could of caught these fish.

224#/80", 155#/69", 146#/67", 104#, 85#, and 6 other halibut from 50# to 80#, plus several rockfish.

 8/14/2001.  Jerry Chubbs, Tom Michaud, Mark Adams, Doug Scott, Cindy Hitchcock and Bob ?  Five biggest halibut pictured: 216#/80", 190#/74", 162#/72", 134#/67", 125#/64".  Seven other halibut not pictured were from 65# to 105#/61".   Approximately 1,450 pounds of halibut kept, many released.

8/23/00 A good day out in the Gulf.  Nine  Halibut including 190#/73", 177#/71", and 191#/74", Three Ling Cod to 48#, Ten Red Snapper. Estimated weight 1,300# of fish.  Caught by Joe Green, Philip Brower, Steve, Bruce, and ?.  Joe Green caught the 190#, 191# halibut, and the 48# Ling Cod. Philip Brower caught the 177# halibut.
